They announced this way back in August! Seems to have finally be happening. Just wondering why it took them this long? I continued to post links with images that had the standard play button up until around a few weeks ago (when reach on these dropped heavily).
Interestingly enough, I was probably better off not using a fake play button in the first place. Less traffic but revenue hasn't been affected that much since I wasn't using CPM ads. Sales remain mostly normal and reach is up, so I guess CTR doesn't matter much when users are leaving almost straight away.
