Hi everyone,

I'm looking a free alternative to cPanel. Someone can advise me on a good & secure control panel ?
  • VestaCP ?
  • ISPConfig ?
  • Webmin ?

I've heard good things about VestaCP. WebMin is very basic.

Honestly I'd invest in cPanel/WHM if you're on a VPS or dedicated server, it's hands down the best there is and the support you can get from them if needed is top notch.

+1 for this. VestaCP is relatively new to the game, and I have had rock solid support with cpanel,
 
I would advise you to take a look on www.webuzo.com similar to cPanel with premium and free version (the differense between both is that on the premium one you have access to 250+ scripts available for 1-click-install, and Backup option).

After reading during one day about that, buy cPanel is one of the best alternative. But what about Plesk VS cPanel ?

Any new reviews ?
 
Forgot to mention InterWorx actually we do prefer InterWorx over cPanel , better secured , better functionallity that cPanel.
You should tell us what you need cPanel for? if is only for you then really go for Webuzo single user VPS control panel you will love it.
Plesk is pain in the ***
 
Vesta CP is best choise.Stay away from others.
The only problem is that don't supports FTP

The Webuzo demo looks good, but Plesk looks better. Why you don't recommend Plesk ?
 
Because Webuzo is product of Softaculous and as such has great features , stability and security. Even cPanel is using the module of Softaculous for 1-click-installs :)
 
In fact, i don't need the on-click feature. Just ftp+php+mysql+dns+email.
do you recommend webuzzo compare to plesk ?
plesk looks like more stable & secure
 
We don't like Plesk for lot of reasons. I'm telling you to go with Webuzo , based on our experience with over 400 active installations currently , we never had any issue regarding the stability and security.
From the free options Webuzo is top software. I'm not saying that Plesk is not good for daily usage but you are asking for FREE software or I'm wrong?
 
To be honest, at the beginning, i was thinking there is only cPanel paid panel control. And it's too bad to paid $15 for that (because i'll need many licence)
But plesk cost only $5, so that's ok for the beggining :)

Hi, finally i'm using webuzo, which is good. But i just realised that there are many things missing (automatic backups, spamassassin....). too bad
 
Resurrecting this in case someone finds this useful. :)

If you don´t want to pay a dime, and want security and a GUI, go for VestaCP.

If you're comfortable working with command line and hosting Wordpress sites, go for Centminmod, very fast and secure, and also great support from the developer and community, just remember it uses Nginx instead of Apache.
 
Comparing there 3 control panel, I prefer VestaCP, consume less memory and easy to install.
