I come home today and walk in the front door and my house is trashed Christmas tree thrown on the floor all the presents gone tv gone stereo gone 2 desktop computers and 1 laptop gone and well over 2,500 dvd's so i call the police and it takes them well over a hour to come out for them to be here 5 damn mins they walked around my house then say all they can do is take a report and said its been happening a lot around town they didn't even look for how they got in did not even care i found by my self that my basement window was kicked in and that's how they broke in called the cops back out to let them know and all they care to say is they will put in down on a report now when my daughter gets home from school i get to explain to a 6 year old what happen and why her stuff is gone and that she is going to have a shitty xmas now i'm so pissed off i worked my ass off to get my daughter nice stuff and it's not from making money online either its just a hobby since i am still in the learning faze people in this world have no respect for others at all to come into someones house and take there stuff and is it really necessary to trash everything in the process i'm blaming it on my self i should of had everything insured i guess the police was right if i would of then i could of got some of it recovered but since i am a dumb ass and did not put that on my home insurance i have to take it as a huge loss what a shitty day sorry to sound like a cry baby i just had to get it off my chest i really am not looking forward to my daughter coming home from school and having to tell her

Dude that sucks. Please tell me you own a few guns to protect yourself and your family if that happens when you are home.

That does stink. But you always need two things in a house: Alarm System and Home Insurance. Whenever I am out of my house I feel safe knowing that the alarm would go off if someone broke into my house and even if they got anything, I have insurance to get back everything I lost.

Sorry to hear that, I know it really sucks. It's like a kick in the gut, it hurts. Did the police even dust for fingerprints? If the breakins have been happening a lot lately, there's a lot they can do if they wouldn't be so lazy.

Make a complaint to the police supervisor (Lt, captain, chief), raise some noise until they do something. You can even go to your local news channel. Go to their website and find a reporter that will look at your case. Once it gets out in the news they will start doing something.

I second this. And also add, cam system. My aunt's house was robbed last year, she installed cameras in her house and when it got robbed again this summer, the police were able to get the thieves (idiots didn't even bother to cover their faces!).

That's terrible, I feel for you and I can't even begin to think how you must be feeling. It's bad enough being robbed but at Christmas that's bad; they have no soul. What makes it worst the police probably can't do anything about it, but hope your property pops up on the street. There's nothing anyone can say to make things better, but keep your head mate.

Oh man I can feel your pain..

9 months back I woke up hearing a noise. I jumped off the bed thinking that it was a cockroach on my bed or something. I turned around only to find a dark silhouette of a man IN MY F-ING ROOM!!

He took my iPhone which was on my bed. THANK GOD I woke up, there was my Mac, my dad's Nikon D5000 and like $1000 in my room.. He didn't have time to take these (except my iPhone).

He ran away seeing me - I followed him till the front door (I was in my boxer). 2 weeks later a neighbour was brought to the hospital. Why? Because he woke up hearing a noise too, but this time the d*ckhead was armed with a sword.


Why am I telling you all this? Because compared to that guy, we are lucky man. Sure I couldn't sleep for several weeks after that happened (imagine waking up and seeing a man in your room!!). And you should be relieved that your daughter wasn't home when that happened.

I understand your pain bro.. But it could have been worse.. Best thing I can tell you is to move on..


EDIT: AND YEAH, SINCE THEN, WE HAVE INSTALLED BURGLAR-PROOF BARS, ALARM SYSTEM AND CAMERA SYSTEM.

no the police did not take finger prints photo's nothing just said all they can do is take a report bastards i was only gone for not even 2 hours went to the grocery store with my old lady around 2 months ago we moved into this house because it was a better area then we was living in better school district for are child i could care less for losing the computers i always keep all my files on backup dvd data files and all my movies and tv none of them was brand new anyways it does suck having to save up to replace them just the no respect for all the xmas presents we started buying a couple things here and there for the past 7 months like we always do so she can have a huge xmas from us but i do agree with all of you it is time to save up for a alarm system and camera's now if i was home at the time they would of never made it out the door.I'm just dreading when my daughter comes home in a half hour.

Wow I'm really sorry to hear that. I can't believe people would take christmas away from someone, especially a kid. That's the worst, but hopefully they'll get what they have coming.
