OK so i give up! I feel silly. I am pretty new to this and I usually just follow the directions of whichever plugin I am using on my WP Site . I enter the alt text information and save it on EVERY photo, even NAME the photos and every time I run any software to check my seo it says my photos do not have any alt text. Even when I used the seo software that is checking for it to ADD it. It's driving me nuts! What am I doing wrong???

Thanx in advance for any help.

1. What's the name of the plugin you're using?

2. For the webpage, right click and use View Source to look at the HTML. Use CTRL-F to do a search for ALT and see if indeed the ALT text is not being rendered.

your software might be fetching cached page
try to clear cache and check again

Thank you both so much. By using page source I can see in fact it IS there but we use wp total cache and I have cleared the cache over and over and the seo software still doesn't see it.

Well if the alt text is showing in the source page then you have nothing to worry about. The crawlers are taking notice of the alt tags. Maybe there is an issue with your SEO software?

If it is in the source code, get a new seo software.

This page will give you a quick and dirty assessment of your on page, including alt tags:

After you did the edits on your images you need to clear all caches from WP total cache. And the next caching will be made with the new page source.
