Verfiy on HostGator?

Had no idea we had to verify our information on HostGator.

I also saw you can verify via phone call. What exactly do they ask of you?
See, I'm under 18 (still ;)), and I just don't feel comfortable giving other information out.

So I want to try the phone call and just wanted to know what they ask from you?

Yeah i had to send in a photo of my driving license, hostgator are cool though, no issues there.

but i'm only fifteen & barely studying for my permit test, so I don't have a drivers license. You think they'd accept my ID even if I'm underage?

& what about the calling? Any information on that? I'd still prefer to call over sending my ID.
 
They wont call you..just send them copy of id..thats it..hostgator is cool
 
Don't worry if you're under 18, this don't care.

Read Verify by Phone Call.

I want to do it that way rather than sending my ID. Plus I don't think I can scan w/o my parents knowing (they won't approve of me sending my ID over the web).
 
They just want to confirm you're legit guy.

I sent them my id which was not in english and they asked me if I could
translate the id info and send them. I just did that and verified, no prob.

Just call them, it'll be ok!

When i made my account they called me and asked if everything is ok and if i ordered the package. I told them it was indeed me and told them the email i used. After that the hostgator operator thanked me for the purchase and that was it. They asked for no other verification

I sincerely apologize for any inconveniences, though unfortunately we will not be able to activate this account until we receive a scanned copy of the PayPal owner's government issued identification card. Unfortunately we will be unable to verify your order over the phone. If you wish to cover the driver's license number, or social security number, we can allow it. We need to be able to see the expiration date, the name, and of course the picture.

They say I can't verify by phone now? Prior to this response, I told them I was underage.

My PayPal account is under my mother's name. Do I scan her ID and send it over?
My hosting account w/ HG is under my name. Is it allowed to have a different name between the PayPal account you paid with vs. the name on your hosting?
 
Bump... Will anyone please respond about the calling? HostGator says I can't call them when I told them I was only fifteen.

What do I do? Scan my ID or my mom's or something?
 
I opened an account with Host Gator then when they asked for Verification, I told them that nowhere in their sales funnel did they mention once anything about verification and I feel its unnecessary to send and ID copy ect. for a lousy $8 hosting account, I asked to speak with a manager on their live chat and I told him the same thing (after I have paid), he sounded like a pre recorded message very robotic in the way he spoke and I told him that (chuckle), then I said I will simply go get my hosting somewhere else - then they made my account live without any verification.

i see that the hosting costs have gone up by 20% ,when i asked they said it was vat ,lol i already pay 20% vat now they want another 20% because im in europe ? im moving my sites as i type
 
If you cannot call because your under age, sending your id won't do the trick either. Same issue.

The bigger issue... is how can you get away with purchasing web hosting at 15, yet not get away with using a scanner.

When I was a little bit older, I merely went up to my father and showed him I my paypal statement. Smooth saling from there on.

Your better off letting your parents know what your up to before they find out in a bad way.

Otherwise, you can always pay someone of-age to create a web hosting account and verifiy it for you.

Right, except it's easier to get away w/ stuff if they are in your room (ie. Computer to use PayPal; your own money to pay for hosting ;) ) but if they are, say, not in your room (ie. Scanner downstairs where my dad's office is and where he resides 99.99% of the time) then not so easy.

And I haven't made a LOT of money yet, and that's where I want to be before I tell them.

Is there a place I can get someone of-age? JV? Pay them?
 
they ask for your name, the last four on the card you used, and thats it. they just verify that you own it. thats all. its best to call in.
