Value of the 100-500 Word Article...

Why do people consider 100-500 word articles so advantageous? Is it better to have/split up lots of shorter articles on your SEO site than it is to have several longer ones? Are requests for shorter articles made out of cost considerations, or is there something statistically beneficial to it?

I could imagine that big articles are good. If you want to split, it of course depends on how you do it. Whether its on a different page, way down the page or just a few spaces down. I think big articles are good because they are a whole and its all related to indexing and whatnot.

I perfer to have at least 300+ words articles to have something for the reader also not just for search engines.

300-500 word articles have all the information put together in a short article. It also is straight to the point and my view is, it is more interesting to read and saves time.

Articles having 300-400 words are good enough for giving the information about the topic.

You are right, 300-400 words content is just perfect but a 500 word article is best. Personally, I think a 500 word article is highly recommended.

Wouldn't it partially have something to do with what the content is as well? When I wrote mainstream people always wanted 300 - 500+ words. Now that I write for adult sites it's much much less. Rarely do I see a client wanting over 150. Even rarer yet is those wanting anything near 500+ .....granted they're using photos & vids to do part of the selling as well.

The word count of an article is very beneficial in many ways, such as, it can persuade the viewers ( The more information you can present, the more convincing it is to the viewers to read more on your posts.) Readers will definitely follow your posts if you have a detailed information to show.

What the article is able to do is what is important. I write short reviews for people ,about 400 words, and get the article on the 1st or 2nd page of Google in less than 48hours. The article always has a link to their site or offer. While the article is well written WHERE the article is and what it does is what is most important!
