Hey guys,

I would like to know your opinion about links without anchor text.

My experiment:

Created 3k Indexed Profile backlinks over the last 2 weeks for one of my websites. All these profile contains backlinks to my website WITHOUT anchor text. Guess what, My rankings have not moved for any of my keywords still.

3k backlinks is alot of links, but it seems that No anchor text is total waste of time.

The 3k backlinks shows up in Yahoo site explorer.

What do you guys think?

;)

Anchor Text carry lot of importance because it helps you to rank for those specific targeted keywords but that does not mean without Anchor Text, your links are waste. No its not, You will still get increase in the serp and it all will depends on onpage keyword optimization. In case if you keep Anchor, then it combines and effect becomes DS.

And just creating 3k backlinks is not important, our Big G might have noticed and indexed only 20 backlinks from those newly created 3k backlinks profiles. You need to carry out few more activities to make sure it gets indexed. or let it grow naturally...

I have helped my client to get into top 3 position only with 170+ backlinks and the keyword was having a search volume of 100K+ monthly volume with 57K "exact" competition. So keep a calm and if possible modify those link to Anchor text link (you can edit it)

You are right that Google might have indexed only 20 yet but, the 3k backlinks shows up in Yahoo Site explorer.

Backlinks with no anchor text have of course less value. But it's always good to mix in some of those links anyways. It doesn't look normal to Google if a website would only get baclinks with anchor text.

a link is a link, even without anchor text, it will help your site's rank. however, it will be much much better for the keyword's rank if you use the correct anchor text for the keyword you targeted.

No anchor = 20% strength
Anchor = 100% strength

All backlinks exact same anchor = -80% total strength

What Yahoo indexes means shit to Google. Google took a look at those 3000 links and decided that 20 were relevant.

Is that minus 80% strength?

Also, just a quick question unrelated question. Are most of your backlinks still created through blog commenting?

Thank you guys for this valuable information here , i have a questions about the PR of the websites linked to it.
Let's say that i created a profile in a high PR 8 site and i drop my link to my money site using anchor text for my Kw , does Google consider that my site is liked to a PR8 website or just a PR0 for my profile page (of course let assume that G indexed my profile page link ) ?

Yes it is -80%, as I have tripped up in the past with not varying anchor text at-all and the results were not good.

My most powerful links still come from comment spam, but there are a lot of other sources, link social bookmarks, wikis, web 2.0 etc, the whole lot.

Powerful Link is link with anchor text
standar link is link with no anchor text

you will get rank better because anchor text.

How much would you vary?

4/5/6 different anchors or 80% target KW and 20% other mixed etc?

Thanks.

Back links pass Topical Authority, Relevance, Trust, and Popularity. Non-Anchor backlinks contribute less to Authority and Relevance, though SE Algorithms do analyze the surrounding text as part of their weighing of the link. No link is a useless link.

I think 2 weeks is too early to tell if these backlinks are going to be worth it or not. Wait a month before you decide on the worthiness of these links. I too ran a large profile blast on both my money site and an ezine article last week. They were both run on pretty much the same day but I am noticing that Google is indexing a lot more links for the Ezine article as opposed to the money site.

I think you can just go absolutely crazy with a web 2.0 property and spam the crap out of it with the same anchor text and you will move nicely in the ranking. Do the same for a money site and you will get much poorer results. Mine actually went the other way, down in the SERP's although it could have been due to many other things as well.:(

I am not so sure about the no anchor text link though. They have to carry at least a little bit of weight I would think. Please do update on the progress you make with these links so we get an idea as well.

there is nothing wrong with having the same anchor text for backlinks as long as you don't ping them all at once. For the backlinks without anchor, its still good as long as it is do follow and have high PR.

Oh well, I see this as a shield. I will now start backlinks with anchor text and even if I get tons of backlinks in a short period of time, Google will see that I had alot of backlinks already.

offcourse you will get a pr0 link, your link needs to be on the homepage to get the full pr8 juice.

but they seem to be more powerfull because they are on a high pr and respected domain.

building 3k profiles links = 10 links on pages with pr more than 5 quality is respected by everyone...Go figure....

this ^^

and don't forget about nofollow
