Value of Apps for Local SEO

Quick question, are apps a good way to get local citations?
I know many review sites have mobile apps, but there seems to be mobile apps for business directories or niches like happy hour apps that dont necessary host this info on a website, atleast for consumers - often prompting them back to use the app.
Was just wondering what the seo value let alone the opportunity of a citation. Appreciate any replies!

There is a great value of apps for local citation. It can help you a lot in optimizing and marketing.
But it mostly depends on the description and details that you wrote in description forum.
It must be native and attractive.
