Every wondered how much google etc. values a domain name??

I've decided to try something to find out, I've setup a blog, without a domain name, the the web address is along the lines of 123.123.123.123\~username\

I do use category\post for my permalinks so the urls should still have decent keywords in them.

I've then given it a twitter account, and set it off auto posting. I haven't done any backlinks yet, cos that'll cost money :)

But I'm curious how much traffic it will get compared to my other blogs.

Well, I placed an order yesterday for some backlinks, which I have checked are in place, but I can't really see them having an effect that quick.

Today, someone has found the site from google, for a long tail along the lines of

"What is the price of [BRAND] [PRODUCT] ??"

Getting some search traffic every day or so now, nothing to brag about. Got my first adsense revenue yesterday. 11p but hey this site has cost me nothing apart from time yet. (It's on some spare hosting)

At this point this would seem about normal for my blogs, this is at approx 11 days.

Do you have the exact same content on another blog? I think without that comparing the results will be difficult. I'm new here so perhaps I'm missing something with your setup? I always thought with testing you need to change only one variable and the see how the two versions compare.

I don't have exact same content, because that leads to problems of it's own (or could do), however I do have a blog in a similar niche, with similiar qty of posts etc.
