    Hey guys,

i always hear that you need to have an USP for your product to be successful. But I see many being successful wihtout an USP. For example the guys doing shopify (selling clothes, electronic stuff etc) with chinese products. There isn't really an USP except the low price.

So what is your experience? Do you really need a good USP to be successful?

    Best Regards
    V

USP not necessary. A lot of copy-cat biz out there making numbers. All you need is targeted traffic.

Well, so there is an USP :p

I guess it heavily depends on how you define USP. You don't really have to be the only one doing a specific thing, but at least act like you're unique & give your costumers a reason to buy.

But what is a good reason for the customer to buy? For example the stores selling cheap clothing. You have many of them online and also offline (like Primark). So why should they buy from you?

Unique selling proposition can be many things, not just the idea, but it can be the way in which a companies executes the idea, runs their company, services their customers and so on. Just like with people marketing the same affiliate products, there's always a way to be different in what you do and/or how you do things. USP can even be how you are perceived or even your sheer popularity in the marketplace. What I'm trying to say is that USP doesn't have to be a major difference - it can be the small things that make a big difference. Maybe even intangible things like the way a company makes their customers feel.

Apart from the low price, the USP can be found in the customers' convenience. For example, even if you're selling some generic cheap items through a dropshipping store, you can differentiate yourself by easy and understanable website navigation, exhaustive product desription with high quality pics and detailed item specifications, and what's even more important - a simple and quick one-step checkout process. If your store visitors don't have to register, fill in numerous verification forms, etc., the amount of impulse purchases will get much bigger (depending o the niche ofc)
