I recently saw a promotion for $50 free in advertising through twitter, so I decided to test it out. I picked to do an account promotion campaign and put the bid at 35 cents per follower gained through the promotion. I was actually fairly surprised to see that it worked pretty well, I picked two tweets to promote that the user sees after clicking on my account and the amount of engagements the tweets received were pretty solid (clicks, retweets, favorites.) Now, Twitter has another promotion you can do that actually promotes your tweets in people's timelines, but you pay per engagement for that instead of per follow like you do with the account promotion campaign I did, so you'd spend a lot more doing that. I am in the process of creating a website that I am going to sell merchandise through, and had an idea to do an account promotion and have the promoted tweet people see after clicking on me be a picture of the shirt I am selling and a link to the website. What's great is Twitter also has a conversion tracking option that you can add to your website that allows you to keep track of how many people purchased an item after seeing my promoted account, so you'll be able to tell if it's worth it. I was just wondering if anyone has tried this method before and if you had any success doing it.
