Using Tor to build backlinks?

First off, I've never used Tor.

I've heard that it's not good to build a lot of backlinks using the same IP...if this is true, would using Tor help with this?

It probably wouldn't help you very much, because most (if not all) tor exit nodes declare themselves as proxies... so any sites that block/reject activity via proxy servers will not accept the posts.

How exactly are you building the back links? It is possible Tor isn't even able to connect to it.

The general issue I have with using Tor for marketing purposes is that it'll slow down the network.
It's really not meant for that, it's meant for people to freely research and communicate without prying eyes.
In a typical backlink bot campaign, you'll have at least around 10 threads running at once.
Multiply that by even just 50 users and that's already bogging down exit nodes and making Tor unusable.

I think you misunderstood what you heard. Backlinks from pages on the same IP count less than backlinks from unique IPs, but that's the web server IP and not your IP. There's no way for G to know what your IP was when you submitted backlinks however you're doing it.

Tor also really doesn't identify itself as a proxy. There are methods used to filter out some Tor traffic but they involve lists of known exit nodes. For anonymity or getting around rate limits it's actually really really useful and usually pretty fast.

I find TOR handy for untainted google serp results.
(If there is such a thing given everyone has a history these days).

If there is no history of a searcher and a keyword then the serp you see in TOR for a given keyword is as untainted as you can get.

But other than keeping prying eyes away from where you are looking it has limitations.
