Hi,

What do you say about using Wiki sites, pdfs, Social Bookmarking etc. usually used as Tier 1 link sources, to promote the Money Site? I mean in the right way, high quality content, no spam etc. Are they good, at least to add some link variation, to increase the exposure of the Money Site, or they will harm the Money Site in the long run?

Thank you

Experimentation is the rule of the game. In the long run, nobody can guarantee what will happen. I have seen many sites with completely organic backlinks tank in the Google updates in the last few years. So, nobody can "guarantee" anything which will work forever irrespective of whatever they promise. It is just about the chances of "quality links" lasting longer than "quantity links".

At the end of the day, it depends on how hard you have worked on the website. If you have invested a lot of work and money I would advise "against" pushing low tier links into money site. If it is just a testing or churn and burn site, you can definitely blast those links. Just make sure you use as much uniqueness in content as possible and only select high PR sites.

I have recently pushed a website for several "highly competitive" keywords in one of the most competitive niches possible to page 2-5 of google using "only" GSA links with the "worst combination" ever. I am not sure how long it will last as it is less than two weeks. But it is possible. I am in experimentation mood recently and am now planning to start some blog to just post all these case studies soon.

Just my 2 cents. :)

Most social bookmarking sites are spammy. The high quality ones are almost always nofollow. Not worth the time/effort IMO. Wiki sites are all nofollow link sources and the moderated ones will delete your links fast. Again, not worth the time and effort. Focus on pdf/document sharing sites and web 2.0 sites.
