Using these free high DA backlinks

I have a question about all of these free high DA backlinks that you can create. For example the ones by Rachmanioff and the ones you find in the Link Building forum once in a while...

Since most of them are non-contextual or the domain is non-contextual at all (for example a profile created), are they

1. Not useful at all, or
2. Have 'some' degree of use?

If the answer is 2, how do you know this or how did you find out? I am assuming it would be useful if you are going up against competitors with zero backlinks - is that correct?

- imho they may have some minimal use, but don't expect miracles,
- how did I find out: 12 years of SEO.

Thanks for the tip. Except those shared by that BHW member that OP indicated, what are in your eyes good threads and other free efficient methods for SEO? And I heard guest posts are good. I found someone on social media granting free guest posts on his site, albeit Nofollow. Your opinion?

Even the needle moves to that degree if your profile link is on a niche related to your money site, else a waste of effort and may not even get indexed.
