Really, does it have a good effect to use your own sub-domains for backlinks?

Say my site is. . .

    Weightlossnow.com

And I have pages for "17 day diet", "lemonade diet " and "weight loss pills"..

So then I go and make 5 sub-domains for each diet, add new good content and link back to the main domain/subpage...

Maybe, do a little backlinking to the subdomains and call it good.

Would this help a site out?

Properly arranged quality content ALWAYS helps. Keep your KW density between 1% and 3% and incorperate the keywords seamlessly into good content, vary your anchors and link to some authority sites. You're good to go. (Mostly)

Do you think the way I am talking about would count more than spam links you would buy on fivver or other places?
