Using subdomains for control panels

I have multiple domains running WordPress and want to hide the control panels. Using the htaccess that part is easy but I would like to use subdomains of my primary website to access the control panels without redirecting the browser. Thus allowing me to use 1 SSL certificate and create an easy for way for my writers to go back and forth. Anyone know how this can be done?

If it is a cpanel arrangement with a primary domain and the others are addons they should be covered under the main certificate.

Here is what hostgator had to say:
Q: I am interesting in purchasing the business plan, which comes with a dedicated IP and Private SSL certificate.
My primary domain name will be secured under the Private SSL certificate... Does this mean that any add-on domains I might have, and that might also need security (https), will be able to make use of the same certificate?

Yes and no.

Yes, you can use that SSL for all of your subdomains and addon domains. However, you must use only the primarydomain.com as the domain in the URL.

So, you can use the SSL with https://primarydomain.com/ , https://primarydomain.com/addonfolder/ , and https://primarydomain.com/subdomainfolder/

The certificate will not work with https://addondomain.com/ or https://sub.primarydomain.com/

Damn. I was hoping to be able to save money. SSL is so damn expensive.

Are you aware of how to set up subdomains to access control panels without redirecting them.

All of these sites are hosted on the same server.

Access it like hostgator said:
https://primarydomain.com/subdomainfolder/wp-admin
or whatever your path is.
