Using SSL for Moneysite - Effective for SEO?

I've read some case study showed there is a slight correlation with ssl and higher rankings. Not enough to make or break a SEO strategy.
FYI- making the shift to SSL after you've built backlinks can hurt you. Google sees http:/domain.com and https:/domain.com as different websites.

i was going to implement on my site, thought that it would be secret method to rank like expired domains were once as people talk about.
Now here, no one is supporting that.
But i will try this still as my final bet on ranking higher as my niche has no SSL requirement and try to see what it brings.

The bump is small, but I personally like the green lock on my site but there are a few things to consider:

- Speed, unless you have SSL on hardware you site will load in over 3 seconds no matter what caching you do. I use cloudflare, cloudfront, W3 Cache and CSS, JS, HTML minify.
You can use WMT and confirm your new domain (https) and send a move domain request, takes 3 days to propagate. It's also quite cheap, I get mine from Namecheap, when you register a new domain you get SSL for 2$, can't find it cheaper than this.
Overall I haven't seen that much movement to have it implemented on all my sites, especially when AdSense will show less ads (they have to come from SSL site as well), so if trust is what you are looking for then go for it, otherwise don't, there are lots of things that can and will go wrong.

SSL technology should have minimal if any impact on SEO value. It's a security protocol, so it's really only intended to be used for membership sites, or sites involving exchange of money or other sensitive personal information.
