Using proxies on mobile phone

guys, when i set wifi settings to use a proxy on android, does that proxy also work with apps like instagram and facebook?

umm, most cell phones companies don't give you a static IP address anyway. If you simply turn your phone onto AIRPLANE mode, 99% of the time youll get a new IP. if you using your phone, i think theres others issues besides proxies.

True, but the ip has to be from us.

Of course, if you set up a proxy in the phone's settings, all the connections will go through it.

If you're using a private proxy it'll only work on a browser, tried and could get it work with any of the apps

Sorry, correction: It is up to the app developer to respect the proxy settings and use them or ignore them.
A few years ago I didn't have any problem with Facebook, but maybe thing could have changed since then.
However, as Nowrid Ahsan stated above, if you access facebook (or any website) through the default browser, your proxy will be used all the time.

if you want hide IP.. use vpn

it will work on all apps

It will only work with the browser. If you want it to work with all apps you must have root and install an app like proxydroid to use the proxy on all apps.

I can confirm this is true ^. Without setting a global proxy at a lower level (rooted phone and a proxy tool like proxydroid) you'll most than likely leak your real IP to the top apps. I got various suspicious login screens that specified the country of my real IP when adding the proxy in the proxy settings, didn't got that using proxydroid.

If you do it via Wi-Fi and the proxy is set for you whole phone's system (from your phones system), it will work. However, if you plan on using a third party server (proxy) for a phone or mobile device, I recommend you get a VPN instead of a proxy server.
