Using PP as your over the phone processor

Has anyone taken a credit card over the phone and entered it into PP manually (without severe red flags)? Call verification recorded, B2B phone calls. Just don't want the loss that comes with "invoice me" promises and know that I can get the digits while on the line.

No, but I'd be interested to hear if anyone else does this but with a merchant bank account. I'm about to apply for one but in UK I've been told by my business bank manager it can take 2 months to get it.

I was also under the impression that you needed a merchant account to take credit card numbers over the phone. May be different laws where you come from, I don't know.

It is easy to do this with authorize.net and your local bank can hook you up in a matter of days. You have to watch out though, some banks will charge you some crazy fee's out of no where. I've seen this several times.

Oh, you can get a virtual terminal for pp: https://merchant.paypal.com/cgi-bin...-content&content_ID=merchant/virtual_terminal

Costs $30 a month plus fee's

I own a B&M service company where we process around 40 transactions a week using paypal with no problem. Paypal has no idea whether you are face to face or over the phone.

You also might want to look at Square, it's a new service by the dude who started Twitter. We're starting to roll it out and it looks good. Cheap and easy to use. Better than PP by far from what I'm seeing so far.

Propay $50 a year (or something) plus processing. No monthly fees.
