You shouldn't use images just to "spice up" without permission, but using an image in order to comment on it is generally fine under fair use.

I think getty images are now giving away a free embedding and you can use the photo simply by copy pasting the code

I was pleasantly surprised to see how much variety there are in free stock images. I always thought of them as those awkwardly posed people smiling at the camera. But they had pages and pages of pictures from pretty small niches that can be used. If you don't find enough in a specific search, think outside the box to find related pictures with other keywords.
