A few months back I started my youtube channel. Its more of a hobby for me right now, but eventually I'd like to start making some money from my channel. Anyway, I've been writing articles, and record myself reading them. I play royalty free music over the back round, and use photos that I find from google as my visuals. My question is, is this a dumb thing to do? The photos are not mine, so I guess eventually the owner of one of the photos could see his photo on my video, and have my video taken down. I realize this is very unlikely right now because my channel is very small, but if it grows I don't want this to be a problem. I realize I can search through royalty free images for my videos, but for the most part, most of those photos suck. Also I've used facebook ads to advertise my website, which have those videos on them. Is it possible facebook could ban me from using their ad service for using photo's that aren't my own?

it is possible but its highly unlikely, in the google image search theres an advanced search feature which allows you to use copyright free photos.

It's too much hassle for the person to legally approach YT, and most people will avoid it. Even if someone gets your video taken down, which is hardly gonna happen, YT will give you a copyright strike. I guess they give 2 or 3 copyright strikes before suspending the CHANNEL. It's always a little bit risky in the BHW. :p

As others have said, you'll probably be fine but maybe look into taking your own as it would probably make for a stronger video.
