Hello, I was wondering if anyone uses their own laptop as their own personal vps through something like teamviewer. I have it scraping and running other programs all night.
My power bill raised 50% and I was wondering if it was basically because of that?
It may have been other things just wondering if anyone else has experienced this or knows more on the subject.

I don't personally use a laptop like a VPS, I think its just better using a real VPS.

However about the power consumption, I use something called a "kill-a-watt" to find out how much power my stuff uses.

If you confirm the jump is due to your laptop running all the time and depending on the size of your power bill, you might find it more economical to just get a real VPS. You can get a good one for $34 that is better than almost any laptop from ShapeHost.

Thanks mister don, it would pay for itself if that's the case. My power bill went from $240 to $330
