Using iMovie sounds and effects

Hey guys,

So, I started a new YouTube channel about a week ago and started experimenting with editing videos on iMovie..
Does anyone know if it is legal to actually use the sound effects, backgrounds, themes, maps, etc that already come with iMovie?
If I use these effects, will my videos be flagged on YouTube for copyright infringement?

Very good question kripi,

You are wise to think about that as you can run into problems using copyrighted material. I would suggest reading the TOS of the iMovie software to see what that says. Or any other documentation that came with iMovie.

YouTube tends to play it safe whenever there is content in a video that could have come from another source. I recently monetized some videos that all had stock music that was paid for and still got flagged. So it may not matter whether you are allowed to profit from the use of sound effects or not.

I think they should be.Atleast they should have the Creative Commons license.

Even though the sounds effects in iMovie are royalty-free, people still experience issues.

This is what I found:
"You may use the Apple and third party audio content ("Audio Content") contained in or otherwise included with the Apple software, on a royalty-free basis, to create your own original soundtracks for your video and audio projects. You may broadcast and/or distribute your own soundtracks that were created using the Audio Content, however, individual samples, sound sets, or audio content may not be commercially or otherwise distributed on a standalone basis, nor may they be repackaged in whole or in part as audio samples, sound files, sound effects or music beds."

I suppose that means that I CAN use it, as long as I am not using it by itself. As long as it is PART of my original work (video). hmm..
 
Nope :) Using stuff from either iMovie or Final Cut X is totally safe to use. I don't necessarily recommend using them though. Check out AudioJungle for some more original and professional sounding tracks for your projects.
 
Pretty sure you can use the audio for whatever your want. If you get adobe sound booth, adobe gives you a huge library of music and sound effects and you can use them for whatever your want, I am sure imovie is similar. But make sure you are very cautious about music copyright, its is a very sketchy industry.
