I'm planning on making a new authority site but the niche will rely heavily on me reusing specific images, of specific people. If I credit the original source at the bottom of the post, is that sufficient? The text will be manually written and not spun.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Really the question should be asked to the person in question who owns the image only they can say if they approve or not, and how they want credited.

The blackhat method is download image resave it change the title and meta, and fire it up anyway, and if you get caught well remove it lesson learned.

Fair enough! Thanks for the reply.

Really depends on the niche.

In the adult niche people seriously don't care haha.
But in the non-adult niche you might get into a little trouble.

However 99% of the time the owner will file a claim and all you do is remove the file
and be like 'allright i'm sorry' and just keep blogging on :P.

How much problem can we get by just putting the source of the image and not asking the owner of an image? I have read a blog and, maybe to scare people, the person said because of 1 image she used, the went to court and had to pay 8k dollars to the person she used the image from!

Really depends on where they got the image in the first place. You are allowed to use images if sourced otherwise No images of fine art would be on the Internet at all. Also if you want to be sneak about it, you simply tag it in a manner in which they will most likely never find it.

Most of it comes down to "are you going to monetize this image" if so you may end up with issues. If your just using a image to pretty up a blog article I would just source it. Unless they are a direct competitor I doubt you will have issues and in fact most likely appreciate the free backlink.

An authority site containing property that isn't yours?

Keep dreaming.

Just ask them for permission before using the picture, if they agree then its fine. But in majority of the cases, the picture that you might be picking (might be taken from somewhere else). It just depends on luck, I see many bloggers happily scraping images from Google Search not caring about the copyright policy. If you want to take your website big, avoid doing it.

Yes, really depends on the niche and the number of times the picture has already been used. If the pictures has been used 100000 times, why not? Not going to matter, at this point anyway.

Never heard of anyone getting in trouble over used image.. Worst case maybe you need to take it down
