At the moment, the only web 2.0 linking to site is a tumblr that I have auto-posting around 3 times per day. Would it be a good idea to use IFTTT to post these to Wordpress, Blogger, and Weebly as well? Since the text wouldn't be spun, would this just devalue the links or would it end up negatively affecting rankings?

IFTTT is just a tool, meaning it can be great if you plan and do it correctly. I have done it few times for my friends and it works like a charm :D

I have a hunch it will catch on. I've used it for other uses, and the gears are turning on how we can benefit from it for SEO. it's just a matter of time.

Someone is even selling a link building service based off IFTTT on this forum, it sounds like a good strategy to me since Google is starting to pay more attention to social media shares

I'm not sure how would you use IFTTT to do back link.

I'm user of IFTTT and it's a very good tool, but also is very limited.

Perhaps I'm missing something, but the structure is as easy as:

IF (any action from an App) THEN (any other action from another APP)

Can you build more complex structures? Please, give me some insigh.

I've been thinking about using it to pump up web2.0s. Post an article to your web2.0 linking to your moneynsite, and you can generate a bunch of social signals and other properties. You can have multiple things trigger from the same source.

Something like web2.0->Facebook, Web 2.0->digg.com, etc

I've been using IFTTT for syndication for quite a while now. Also, planning to open up a service in a couple of months.

Everyone is raving these days about how it's the future of SEO. Just makes me laugh.

IFTTT is nothing but a tool to diversify your backlink and to generate some automatic links back to your website everytime you make a new post.

However, it definitely isn't going to help you to do the heavy-lifting.

Goodluck in ranking anything with more than 0 searches per month using IFTTT. lol

I don't think anyone here is thinking that IFTT will revolutionize SEO. What it CAN do is help you get a good idea on your backlink strategy needed. If I post a new post, and run it through IFTT and end up on page 3 after a few weeks, I now have a good idea of what my keyword competition is like and can formulate a backlink strategy to get to #1. Also, I believe it will be a good tool to get some links pointing to your long tail keyword articles without needed too much additional backlinks.

I never said that Emerica. But if you've been following news related to IFTTT Seo or even other threads here you'll see a pattern of people trying to dissuade others from using PBNs and just focus on IFTTT instead.

Just makes me wonder whether or not they even know what SEO stands for.

And there are better ways to find out what the kw competition is going to be. Do you really want to create an entire IFTTT network just to find out your kw is high comp?

I love IFTTT. I don't use it for SEO though, it's amazing for scraping feeds and social networks for new leads.

Oh I agree that's ridiculous to dissuade people from using PBNS in favor of some silver bullet. People need to realize A) SEO is not an exact science, and B) All these backlinking methods should be viewed as another tool to the tool kit. There's a million ways to use your tools, some are more efficient than others, but all in all, there's more than one way to skin a cat.

As far as keyword analysis, my point was that it is one way you COULD use IFTT, sure there are better ways. I'm personally a fan of empirical evidence though, not some 3rd party website that tells me my keyword is a 27. I write article, article gets posted on my syndication network, lands on page 2, boom, low-med comp keyword.

i agree on this point too

Wouldnt it mess with my website rankings if one of the ifttt properties is stronger (when I build links to them) than my domain due to duplicate content?

I'd make sure you're posting unique content for each of the blogging platforms etc. Or post the content on a WP money site and use social media to link back to those

it can be used for syndication and nothing else. You post content on some wp site and maybe IFTTT can post some content (part of original or same) on different sites. Dunno how it will help. If you could make it post different content on each site then yes it can work. Get 10-12 IFTTT accounts and you can build approx. 50 web 20s with daily or weekly updated content. That can defnitely help a little more than building web 20s manually. But you will have to post unique content on each web 20 (like each post).

I have used IFTT only for Youtube videos to post them on web 2.0 properties. It takes time to set it up first time but its a huge time saver to have the video posted on all the web 2.0's . For rankings it have helped for sure but it's not the only factor alone. Now for websites i haven't tested.

Duplicate content is an issue unless you get the syndicated site to: no index the page if it's being reprinted in its entirety on another site, get a rel=canonical tag, and/or get an attribution link, which can be tough to get (the noindex/rel=canonical).
Of course the pages can act like parasites and outrank your money site, best to let your content sit on your site up to 1 week before syndicating, so Google can crawl your site, but this still won't stop a parasite from outranking you when it comes to that article's keywords. And this is ok if the site that the content is being syndicated to has traffic coming back to your site.
One of the most popular financial blogs Zerohedge, does a lot of syndicating, as an example.

If you create an app page on IFTTT you can get a ******** link there.

Well, I was using ifttt 2 years ago and stopped it.In my eyes for good syndication you need always to change too many things to get a good unique content, whch is nearly not possible by automation. If you know better, help me out, pls.Btw for FB it did not work proper.Maybe that changed.Don`t know.
In general I like my first tier sites too much, and their optimization and I still have success to rank them, of course for easy-medium kws. I don`t like, that Wp, blogger,YT are made by a robot. These sites have just a too high value in my portfolio. Well, there is a WP-plugin, which should assist you to make it unique.GTG and search for ifttt academy or semantic blabla.I have never used it. So, if anybody knows more about, you are welcome.
Nevertheless, I think to reuse it, but more via twitter.
