Using high authority domain to boost money site, safe?

I recently obtained a domain that has a pretty high authority. If I throw a few low-medium quality articles on there and then have them link to my money page a few times, will that be safe? Or is there some better way I can use this site to boost my money site? Also, I am planning on throwing ads on this site with the same ads account I use for my money site. Is any of this dangerous to my ranking? Thanks.

I looked at the wayback and it seemed to be maybe some sort of school or government site? It's in another language so I can't tell. Also the niche wasn't related to what I'm using it for. I remember seeing the spam score and I don't remember it being too bad but I can't really remember. Do you have a way I can check it for free?
