Using expired domain or new domain for startup?

Get a new domain and build your business brand around it. Set up an aged domain and use it to capture leads.

According to me, if you are going to start new business. it's like a services to other.. you should buy new domain based on the business.
 
You are not wrong, you would get an advantage. If the name works for you in terms of branding, you should go for it. In terms of SEO, age + powerful links always help.
 
If you can get a good domain with some powerful metrics... then go for it and then 301'ed it to the new one.
If you don't give a F about branding, then by all means, go with an ol' good domain.

Good expired domain with some HQ links will help you in ranking in short time. new domain will take time to rank and it depends on your SEO skills. Create 2 website for your business and generate lead from both of them.
 
I was about to create a thread about this very question. I'm in a bit of a dilemma and I'm not sure which approach I should take. I'm making a new niche money site and picked up a few domain. My niche is in the sound system industry but the domain I scrapped use to be a radio channel. They loosely relate. Should I use the domain i picked up as the money site or just make it a pbn?
 
You can use expired domains if it is not spammed/abused or no penalties. Also you can buy expired domain and redirect it to your new site.

This is the perfect answer. Just make sure you purchase a really good aged domain that's not been spammed.

Depending upon the page you can use both expired domains or new domains. Because expired domains will sound good in certain pages and new domains will sound good in certain pages...
 
I would suggest checking domain metrics before setting up for niche related business. Also, you have to find out whether the domain was penalized.
 
I would be very careful regarding using an expired domain if you are going to be using it for your main website.

If you are going to be buying expired domains with existing backlinks and traffic for your private blog network, that's one thing.

However, if you're looking to use an expired name for your main website that may be cutting it too close.

You might be simply rolling the dice because you have to remember expired domains do have a history.

The sad part is a lot of the tools out there will not really give you a clear picture of what the previous owners of those domains did with those names.

You don't want to put yourself in a situation where you put in all this time, effort and energy and possibly money building up a solid brand and all of a sudden the haunted past of the domain comes back to bite you.

Talk about wasting your time.

So do yourself a favor and do some serious research.

I'm not saying that you should cut off this possibility completely.

What I'm saying is that you should have a healthy dose of skepticism and curiosity.

Otherwise, you might be simply digging yourself into a hole.
