Would it be a good idea to use existing content of my website, which got penalized for a new website in the same niche?

One of my friends said it will be harder to rank, because the content is the same. So better starting over with completely new content? By the way, does it really affect the rankings or indexing? He said he can clearly see that it takes much longer for the website to show on on the SERPS, when he used existing content.

It is the domain which got penalty not content. Just ensure that the content is not already in use elsewhere before you use it.

I moved over content from 90 sites into an aged domain and I'm ranking pretty well. I just use the other 90 domains for one page PPC sites, since they are geo based and make for a great CTR. My client old marketing firm built links using nothing but exact match anchor text from shitty sites and was penalized, not from the content on site. However I did have to optimize the content because all pages were keyword stuffed and literally all pages had 500 words (no more, no less)

Just do not use a 301 redirect from old domains to new site, just sell them on godaddy.

Hi, @nakamura.

Three of my clients who regularly order articles from me used their existing content from a few of their penalized websites. Here's what they did: they had me re-write their old content because they wanted to be sure they won't be penalized content-wise.

I would recommend that you check the uniqueness of the content before re-using it.

Do you write your content on your own?

As long as the penalized domain is offline and pages deindexed you should be fine.

Depending on the reason of getting your old domain getting banned
For example if it banned because of scrapping content or any content reasons, then the new website may getting banned as well
So clearly define the exact reason before getting a decision

Why surprised OP? Most first attempts are failures. Get back and make money since very few clicked a button and had a good business.

Why is your domain got penalized? Is it due to your content? If yes, then it is useless to use the existing content.

wait for google to deindex the content
then post it on your new website

If your content is the reason why your old website got penalized then you should not use it. Create new content on your own, make sure its unique and well-written. It's better this way.

Does this mean if content isn't indexed we can legally use it for our own websites?

In my suggestion, you can use the new content because also make a penalty for content. So better use new content for your site.

Dude, It's always better to use new and unique content for your page. And it's never a good idea if you will use your old content from your penalized domain.

Don't use existing content. Try to use a unique and quality content. Google always loves a unique content.

Actually, I tried this in the past and the content didn't get indexed. So the penalized site may be out of the index, but the content is still considered duplicate.

I've tried it few days after the penalty, so eventually after some time it may be okay, but it wasn't straight away.
