Is it legal to use no more than 5% of another site's content on your site?

Search engines are looking for original content if you want your site ranked well. Use original content.

Surely it must be. Otherwise the SE's wouldnt come up with any results. Lets face it, in any certain niche, eg weight loss, there is a tonne of info that can be seen in other websites in the same niche, even on the same results page! Some sentences are even word for word. I believe it should be ok. Just make sure your layout is original & you should be very safe

Google cannot tell who owns the original content and they will allow you to outrank it if you build more links.

I think it depends on the type of content, if I'm using content that I think has value to the site owner, like statistical data or some sort of private information, I would ask the site owner for permission first.

I don't think it would be illegal unless you were outright copying his stuff. That would be a copyright issue though.

The internet is like the wild wild west, there's no way for Google to know who had the content first and the most the person who created the content can do is send you a cease and desist email- which from my experience never happens. You're safe to steal your competitions content, just be mindful that there are some pretty vindictive people out there so keep it in moderation.

There is nothing bad in writing content which is inspired from other websites... but copying exact snippet and publishing it on your website is not accpetable. Google hates plagiarism and content stealing, so better stay away from it.

That is why it is crucial to make sure the articles on your site are indexed by Google as soon as published. My articles are usually indexed in less than an hour.

That way, you at least have a fighting chance of your site been recognized as the original source.

If you need quality xxx content, I can help you to embed more than 5826 videos on your blog/website (streaming). It's for free and I pay the space and traffic.
Please do not send PM, because I have not 15 posts.

I am pretty sure as long as you reference them then you will be fine, in regards to google I am not sure!

It's illegal to steal other websites content but it really depends upon the owner if he wants to sue you or not. Just choose the people who dont want to spend their time suing people :D

Just my 2cents.

I steal content all the time but I spin it always. Arent we in a BH forum?

Use it and then rewrite in such a way that no one can find the difference, works for me. And if you are a writer, just read the content that should get you going and write your own content.

google hate duplicate content on the same site...so you are safe to copy content in SE eyes but not safe when its involved any copyright issue.

At least go on and try to re-write the content using different phrases and words copying entire content, brands or so surely is illegal
