Has anyone tried this? For example, blasting your homepage with NYTimes as anchor text so that whenever someone searches nytimes your site shows up on the front page.
well i've ranked for keywords but haven't tried ranking for another website name.
maybe i wasn't clear,. so say if i were the latimes and i wanted to take traffic from searches for the nytimes so i rank for the keyword "nytimes". you're saying thats a pretty successful strategy?
Sorry I am confused....Lets say I have website or forum named www.xzy.com and there are good products on www.abc.com so can I use abc.com keywords or their domain name as keywords on xyz.com. So when someone search for abc.com products then my website xyz.com will come up on google I hope this make sense to all. But how its possible ?
Hmmm.... you'd need to seriously work on your backlinking for that.... Hmmmmm although saying that you could link to an article about say the NYtimes on your site..... I wonder....

Yes. My main competitor has been doing this for a while using anchor text of a leading company in the field. When I first saw it, i was surprised, but I guess it must be some kind of cloaking strategy. All I can say is that he is running a very successful seo strategy because he outrank everyone in a matter of months.
