Im wondering if anybody here has done this? Some old books 100% on topic. Thousands of words of niche relevant content for free.

It is copyrighted so be sure to specify where you got your info from to give credit, otherwise you can be sued, back in the day it was a compliment to use others work.. Other than that should be great to use for inspiration, ideas, or simply BH.
Maybe use dragon software so you can do talk to text so no typing needed. OR take it further and purchase OCR software that translate text into computer text.

Definitely copyrighted and you might get into a lawsuit.

When you say old books copyright law did not exist before 1923 so any book older than that you are fine, anything after 1923 is more complicated.

It is called public domain content and yes i have made quite a bit of money using that.

BTW those books are very niche relevant and didn't make much money for writer and others. I make an extra page for their book and add buy link to their book etc.

And first I just want to know what happens.

I do it with books that are out of print, I use a scanner mouse and save the text as an editable file.

Check out for plagiarism and if the author finds out you might get into a trouble because of copyrights

I’ve done it in the past but I asked for (and was granted) permission to do some. I got some decent traffic from it as well.

As said above, you’d need to confirm the content wasn’t already available online for it to be effective. You’d have to appreciate as well that if you don’t ask for permission then there will be copyright issues.

Interesting concept. If you had a scanner or similar that could convert print text to computer text, you might be able to get a bunch of high quality content out of this. Although, you would have to be careful about blatant copyright infringement.

If you were planning to use this for a money site, then it might be worth it, since the content could be quite high quality. If you're planning to use this for filler-type content, it's probably too much of a pain in the ass. You can get tons of that for extremely cheap from services like @littlewebdragon's $1 per article service.

I did this with some of my old lecture notes and it worked like a charm... But beware of books. Before you post the content, use plagiarism tools to check or just paste a paragraph in Google search.
