So a friend of mine bought a couple of stealths a week ago.

He gets ebay gift cards at 10-20% discount from somewhere, and is looking to leverage that opportunity for reselling goods on the stealth ebays and Amazon.

I read this condition on eBay's Terms and Conditions for Gift cards (http://pages.ebay.com/giftcard/terms_conditions.html) -

No more than a total of $2000 in Gift Cards may be redeemed per day, and no more than a total of $5000 in Gift Cards may be redeemed per calendar month. Further, you may only redeem a maximum of eight Gift Cards in any single transaction (and fewer if you are redeeming Gift Cards in combination with other redemption codes, such as coupons or vouchers).

I am kind of wondering, would it be safe to actually purchase $5k worth of stuff every month on each of the accounts or will they consider this as some sort of suspicious activity (despite the gift cards being 101% legit)?

If you started doing this on an account without constant activity I think more lights would go off at ebay than at a gay carnival.

Hahaha !!

But the cards are completely legit. And then they do give the 5k limit per month as per their own ToS. So why should it be a problem?

There's a fat chance the gift cards are not "101% legit" if he's getting them at a 10-20% discount. Most likely stolen credit cards. That being said, if he's going to resell items it would probably be best to create a listing and then use the gift card once an order is placed and order it directly to the buyer to avoid paying shipping twice.

There's no chance those cards are legit, and even if they were, so many gift card transactions in one account will set off alarms for money laundering.
