using a personal page vs fan page

I have noticed most of the indie artist I know are promoting their music through
their personal page rather than a fan page.
Its easier to add friends than to get likes,
but what are the pro's and cons of this?

the fan page is dumb now you can have 300000 likes and only 300 will see it unless you pay
 
You can advertise with a personal page better. Pretty sure you dont have to pay for a certain amount of people to see your stuff.
 
I would go for a Fan page, its easier to let everyone know if you released a new song for the artists too.
 
people will accept your friend request before they like your fanpage and facebooks ads are too expensive imo
 
A personal page is better imo, it's easier to get friends than it is to get fans
