pin a freebie in his group to build an email list, then use email marketing to drive sales. Even without his own products, promoting affiliate products can still generate revenue, especially since he already have the traffic. damn I am quit envy

Blogs can drive traffic and give added value., email marketing to keep your current members in the loop.

I think there is still a chance, the important thing is that you need to research what kind of group your group members belong to and what their interests are.
 
A group with such a large number of members is not small, and your group also has a fairly stable growth rate. If the group maintains stable content, I believe you will be very valuable in the eyes of those who follow you.
 
You can find new partners to continue growing. For free courses, I would say coding, digital marketing or project management, as these are often in demand.
 
You could run a survey and see which group your audience falls into. What type of free course do you think would attract the most interest from that group?
