Using a domain name with a hyphen? Good or Bad?

Hello Bhw friends,
i am planning to buy EMD - only for SEO purpose,

Emd has 3 words,
Just Example:
areyoucrazy.com ( not available)
Areyou-crazy and are-you-crazy.com ( available)

Can you please Suggest me, how to go with, as i can not able to add more words in to domain because meaning will change for that EMD.

In your case I would go with the .com domain with two hyphens. Unless you can see yourself buying a domain with a different extension of course.

What about areyou-crazy.com? because i just saw, 2 hyphens domain is also registered.

In that case I would probably go with another domain extension with the two hyphens included. But that's just me.

Most people don't trust domains with hyphens. So, it will directly effect your CTR unless you're targeting extremely low competition niche which doesn't have any legit sites. Around 10-12 years ago, I used to find domains with hyphens in almost half of the web search results, but I rarely see them. That explains a lot about long term effects. However, if you have a huge budget for branding, then you can go with it.

Current best practices says to avoid hyphens if possible.

Moz says:

3. Avoid hyphens if possible
If your domain name is two words (like http://www.examplesite.com), you may want to separate the words with a hyphen for readability: http://www.example-site.com. But, keep in mind that use of hyphens also strongly correlates with spammy behavior and decreases domain name readability and memorability. For that reason, generally, no more than one hyphen should be used (if any must be used at all).​
