I needed some articles written and Weirdali aka Alex Smith (Real name and Skype username) was refered to me by another very reputable member. I didnt have any work for him when he was first introduced to me, but I kept his information in case I did have work. Alex messaged me on the 11th on skype

[4/11/2012 11:00:26 AM] alex smith - weirdali - articles: Yeah i'm okay man. I was wondering if you had any work like asap kinda thing, been caught out with one of my rent payments and need to try and raise some cash ideally within 24 hours so I'm asking everyone I can. No worries if not, just thought it would be worth a try"

So I told him that I did have some work and that I needed some copy written ASAP and that I needed it done within an Hour and I would pay him extra to do so.

I normally dont pay this much but ill pay you $10 just to write two decent paragraphs marketing it that I can put at the top
[4/11/2012 11:06:51 AM] rakoom2002: lemme send you an index file that is his website incase you need imore info
[4/11/2012 11:06:59 AM] alex smith - weirdali - articles: alright man just looking through it now
    [4/11/2012 11:07:13 AM] *** rakoom2002 sent index.html ***
[4/11/2012 11:07:36 AM] rakoom2002: does $10 sound fair? like I said, its more than I normally pay especially for a couple paragraphs but ill do it to help ya out
[4/11/2012 11:08:05 AM] rakoom2002: I need it done fairly quick though
[4/11/2012 11:08:15 AM] rakoom2002: Ill give you an extra $5 if you have it done within an hour
[4/11/2012 11:08:18 AM] alex smith - weirdali - articles: Yeah that's cool man, I gotta earn around $60 so it's a good start
[4/11/2012 11:08:24 AM] alex smith - weirdali - articles: Okay awsome man il crack on now
[4/11/2012 11:08:25 AM] alex smith - weirdali - articles: thanks
    [4/11/2012 11:08:27 AM] rakoom2002: sweet

So I was feeling nice and he told me that he need $65 total I believe for his rent and I told him that I would just give him the $65 upfront to be nice and help him out and he could work it off. Do articles for me as I needed them.

    you said you need $60?
[4/11/2012 11:13:51 AM] rakoom2002: you there bro? Sorry I need to leave in a minute
    [4/11/2012 11:13:54 AM] rakoom2002: ill make u a deal
[4/11/2012 11:15:02 AM] rakoom2002: hey bro hit me up. :)
[4/11/2012 11:15:12 AM] alex smith - weirdali - articles: Sorry mate
[4/11/2012 11:15:20 AM] alex smith - weirdali - articles: here now
    [4/11/2012 11:15:26 AM] rakoom2002: ok cool
    [4/11/2012 11:15:29 AM] rakoom2002: so you need $60?
[4/11/2012 11:15:30 AM] alex smith - weirdali - articles: my paypal address is alkicksass@googlemail.com
    [4/11/2012 11:15:33 AM] rakoom2002: right
    [4/11/2012 11:15:35 AM] rakoom2002: total
[4/11/2012 11:15:35 AM] alex smith - weirdali - articles: Yeah I need like $64 total
    [4/11/2012 11:15:38 AM] rakoom2002: ok
    [4/11/2012 11:15:41 AM] rakoom2002: ill do you a solid
[4/11/2012 11:15:44 AM] rakoom2002: Ill float you the money
    [4/11/2012 11:15:46 AM] rakoom2002: $65
[4/11/2012 11:15:54 AM] rakoom2002: and you can just write articles for me as I need them
    [4/11/2012 11:16:10 AM] rakoom2002: They will be 400-500 words and I normally pay $5 a piece
[4/11/2012 11:16:11 AM] alex smith - weirdali - articles: Yeah? Wow that would be awsome man, what a help

So I paid him the money and I let him work on the article that I needed back in an hour.

He started working on the article at like 11:10 and and hour pass and nothing so I messaged him:

    [4/11/2012 12:13:26 PM] rakoom2002: hey brotha
[4/11/2012 12:13:35 PM] rakoom2002: those paragraphs almost done my main man
    [4/11/2012 12:23:39 PM] rakoom2002: hey bro..
[4/11/2012 1:14:05 PM] rakoom2002: Come on man. I send you $65 and then you dissapear, not cool!

I couldnt get ahold of him, I sent him emails, skype messages, messaged him on the forum and nothing.

Finally at 5:00 PM he messaged me back:

[4/11/2012 5:06:30 PM] alex smith - weirdali - articles: Man, i'm so sorry, had a pretty disasterous evening, i'm not screwing you around I promise, will have it all with you first thing in the morning, il explain in full whats happened tomorrow, but i wanted to come on qick to let you know i'm not screing you around
[4/11/2012 5:06:31 PM] alex smith - weirdali - articles: screwing*
[4/11/2012 5:06:41 PM] alex smith - weirdali - articles: hope you understand, will get back to you first thing tomorrow morning

So 6 hours later he messages me and said and said something came up and he would explain tomorrow.

In this time I had to frantically hire someone else to complete the job and pay them extra money. "tomorrow" wouldn't work I needed the article within the hour as we originally agreed.

So Basically, I hired him, I paid him $65 up front to help him out in his time of need and then he magically disappears for 6 hours conveniently after I paid him with what ha said was an "emergency". I told him that I already had to hire someone else and I just want the money back. I was obviously mad and I no longer wanted to do business with him and wanted the money back. Alex told me that he had already withdrawn the money and couldnt give me the money. I told alex that I was going to file a dispute and he said okay and that he will accept it and that he'll just owe paypal.

I really just want the money back, if I have to get it through paypal its going to take forever. After Alex and I spoke that evening he said he would talk to me again in the morning. I havent been able to get ahold of him since. Ive tried messaging him on skype, sending him emails, and pming him on the forum and nothing.

I cant provide more of the conversations to a mod upon request. Thank you.

Unless PP changed recently you're wasting your time with a dispute. Intangibles are not protected. Just saying - but I do hope I'm wrong and you get your money back. I learned after being scammed TWICE in a month for hosting service and software to ALWAYS force funding for intangibles with Credit Card. PayPal is now scam central for people selling intangibles.

when it comes to intangibles the buyer has more protection than the seller. burdon of proof is usually on seller.

It's an epidemic. Seems that if you borrow money or start a JV at BHW you have a 50% chance of having an "emergency" happen

Tell the guy who referred him to you. That way he doesn't refer this guy to anyone else.
