Use Facebook Ads To Escape The Google Sandbox (My Experience)

Hi everyone,

I have been researching around the Google sandbox lately, and I came across and article by medium.com that suggested running Facebook Ads to a few of your blog posts in order to increase the traffic to your site and escape the Google sandbox a little bit quicker.

While I had always presumed it was a matter of content, domain age and niche that impacted the Google sandbox, reading this article made me wonder whether this could actually help.

After all, a good backlink or 2 can help to speed up the process, so why wouldn't an influx of traffic from Facebook ads help?

While it won't provide as much trust in the eyes of Google as a strong backlink would, it might ad some level of trust and could lead to a few extra backlinks.

I'm not convinced that this will actually have much of an impact, but I am going to run a few £1 per day ads to a number of my blog posts and I'll let you know whether it helps!

If anyone has any thoughts on whether they think this would help or not, i'd love to hear it!

if backlinks or traffic will get you out the sandbox then your site is not in the sandbox to begin with. Sandbox means that you'll not rank for 3 months to up to 2 years no matter what you do, even though your entire site is indexed

This being said, getting traffic is always good, so I do recommend you getting PPC traffic if you can afford it. But again, it will not help with getting out of the sandbox, or else everyone would do it and sandbox would not be a thing anymore

I agree with what you're saying. However, while it may seem random, the Google sandbox will have some logic behind it. So if the sandbox can last anywhere between 3-24months, then there must be some factors that influence how quickly you can escape it that are in your control.

Obviously some will have more of an impact than others, but I don't see why traffic wouldn't be one of the indicators Google uses, maybe I'm wrong though.

I don't agree.

I don't think any factors are under our control, but if you find them share them with me cause I'd love to rank my sites from day 1 in the payday loans or car insurance niches, even if they only rank for a few months

well, there's only one way to test this: get traffic to few days old websites, but to do things properly make sure you have few days old websites in over 20-30 big niches, because otherwise it will just be coincidence, and sandbox - while real - it's still pretty random

So, drive traffic to 20-30 few days old websites, one in each one of the 20-30 biggest niches, for a few weeks, and if those sites start ranking 100% of the time then sandbox is definitely a myth. But if only one of those 20-30 sites doesn't rank while all others do, then why doesn't that single site rank despite of you doing everything by the book of SEO? That's what I'd like to know

I hardly believe this.

Why is it important to run ads? If the traffic needs to come via Facebook then you could just share the link in groups or on your own page to generate FB traffic.

You'd also probably generate more traffic than using $1 for ads.

I would love to rank my sites in 1 day aswell

I think the best way to test it would be to run 20-30 sites, like you said. But you'd also need a control group of 30-40 sites where you don't run ads and then see which group of sites average more organic traffic after 3-6 months or something.

Yes I guess this would have a similar outcome. Ads were just an easier route. I suppose you could also use Pinterest etc

I'm really curious about the outcome of this
