If your not using desktop apps you should

I made this switch first because I got so sick of using Yahoo mail, its really freaking slow and annoying, probably because I'm often on Opera browser, don't ask why. The other thing is I got insanely sick of seeing Yahoo's stupid news articles that seem like they were written by a 16yr old girl or something, all I want to do is simply and quickly check my email WTF! Also its a real pain when your switching between multiple email accounts, twitters, facebooks, etc... I guess before I was just to lazy to change, or maybe I was in the dark about the glory of Desktop Apps, but now I have seen the light!

So now I'm using Inky for my email client, its fast, runs on the desktop, and you can handle all your email accounts in one UI. No stupid news articles, nothing but your email, there's a couple other ones too, I know Microsoft has one as part of the windows live essentials or whatever. Next I have Tweet Deck, same thing, fast, simple, Desktop App. You can handle multiple accounts and what not, also I got Writer, Microsoft's desktop blogging app, same thing just for my blogs...

So all my twitter accounts, blogs, and email accounts are on my desktop and accessible from the same apps. cool beans... :)

Making the switch to Desktop apps has literally changed my life! If you don't already do it, I highly suggest you try, its faster, easier, less fluff, and you have everything on your desktop! I will never use a website for email again... for sure
try it yourself see if I'm right!

...that is all

I just tried Inky. Uninstalled in the next minute. Resource hungry and very slow. Back to good ol' Thunderbird :D

opera browser? thats part of the issue.

thunderbird is pretty legit

Yeah I know, its ridiculous haha ;)
but I have this app last pass and it has allllllll my passwords for so many different sites, so I would have to move em all over to chrome :(

oh really? hmm so I'll check out thunderbird, is it like the same thing or what?
Resource hungry you think so? Its pretty chill on my machine, good speed too

By desktop apps, do you mean native applications or Google Desktop Apps?

Maybe it's just my system specs. A Phenom 9650 CPU and 3 GB of DDR2 memory. I've an SSD and a graphic card though. Thunderbird doesn't have all the bells and whistles that the Inky has but it has unified Inbox to go through multiple mail accounts under a single tab and an rss feed reader which really comes handy to manage my Google alerts. Time spent per day to manage emails has drastically reduced to a greater extent ever since I switched to Thunderbird. You should give it a try.

Thunderbird plus Exquilla rocks -- can see all my emails in one location!
