New to crypto. I am using this to send money globally. bypassing these e-wallets and the bs associated.
From my research, USDC seems to be the one I want to use. I'd like to know if I am correct

I am not looking to grow my crypto, right now at least. just to exchange with others

Choose a wallet or exchange

Deposit crypto
Exchange or send.

- go with big brands only.
Do not try any new wallet or app from unknown source

I prefer USDT personally, but USDC is definitely more regulated and transparent

All things considered, USDC is pretty much a solid go-to for that. It's a stablecoin so if you just want to move money and not speculate on value, why not.
Convert fiat to USDC on a trusted exchange > send USDC to recipient’s wallet (low-fee chain, preferably) > recipient converts USDC back to fiat on their local exchange.

Yeah. I am going with USDC.

I have been confusing myself. Can I just use the Coinbase wallet for this. The coinbase.com account is for if I want to play the market or whatever? I just want to use this to circumvent e-wallet bullshit. Someone turns USD into USDC, sends to me.

I receive (send them an address), as they are also new. making it simple for them.

Then I exchange into USD, all from wallet? Or should I just have us both use coinbase.com?

Yeah, you're on the right track. You can use Coinbase Wallet for the USDC stuff. Coinbase.com is more for trading and buying/selling crypto.
So, if someone sends you USDC, it’ll go to your wallet, and then you can either leave it there or transfer it to Coinbase.com to sell for USD and withdraw it to your bank.
But if you and your friend want to keep things simple, you could just both use Coinbase.com for everything sending, receiving, and converting. That way you’re not dealing with multiple wallets.

Hopefully, that clears it up!

You’re trying to jump into crypto as a complete beginner, and I get that you want it to be simple. But here’s the catch:

There are around 10 different versions of USDC on different blockchains. If you pick the wrong one, the wallet address won’t match, and you’ll just lose your money forever.

(EVM-compatible chains are the exception — funds won’t vanish, but they’ll end up stuck in another network where you can’t use them unless you know how to bridge them.)

Also, you’ll need to hold a bit of the native token (ETH, MATIC, etc.) to pay for gas fees. Without that, you won’t be able to move your USDC at all.

So before you think about trading on an exchange or even moving funds around, it’s worth taking time to understand these basics. Otherwise you’re risking money by rushing in.

USDT is my preferred stable coin. I don't use USDC unless I'm trying to make a payment and the platform only accepts USDC.

Now I am hearing both USDC, and USDT. All we need is to be able to send each other crypto, to then right away turn into USD

USDT or Usdc, both are fine. USDT is more prevalent than Usdc though, but they are both accessible and usable.

USDC is pretty cool but the one am always using is USDT.

If you want flexibility, USDT is the way to go since more sites (especially casinos) support it.

Also recently, Tether planned to launch their own US-regulated stablecoin (USAT).

USDC is good for short-term value storage, avoiding market volatility, or for intermediary trading between crypto/fiat. However, it should not be considered a bullish investment channel — as the price has barely increased, just held steady.
All I want is to be able to send eachother crypto equal to the usd. then exchange right into USD. So I'd like to know if it even matters. Initally from researching I was told USDC on Eth. I understand what that means, but don't think it's required. I don't care about figuring out crypto beyond that, just to transfer USD
