.us extension domains, Is it worth?

In order to register a .US domain the registrant must be a United States citizen, resident, organization or a foreign entity with a presence in the United States."

What if I get a domain registered anyhow?
Will it be useful in getting more US traffic?
Using a whois guard could be enough i guess.

What do you guys think? Please share some ideas or infos

It's not worth it. You can easily target US with any other domain.

I’d just go with com net org. It’s not worth the extra hassle.
