Hello. I want to start building a site but i am on an extremely tight budget! Godaddy have a sale on us and biz domains now. I want to ask are those domains good for building micro niche sites? Do they affect rankings in some way ? Thank you
It depends on the keywords you'll be targeting. If you target something like "cheap dentist in *some US city*", then that a .us domain would be perfect. However, if you target keywords that are used in other English speaking countries as well then I'd recommend to get a .com or a .net.
Plenty of places to buy .com's for $1-2, search for discount codes or promotional offers for new customers. I never pay more than about $2 for a domain.
ok ok i found a domain and it goes like this - keyword.uk. They keyword is quite popular. I assume this domain will go good in the UK ( which is nice ) but what about the rest of the world :? I understood that com is the best but they keyword is quite good Any advices ?
first "us" then "uk" then next what OP? go and buy that domain rather than sitting and asking. ask yourself first this "will you put value into that domain or not?"
.com's are still the best domain extension. .us is only really suitable when targeting exclusively US traffic. Same applies to any regional extension (.uk, .ca etc)
first read carefully... it was the .us because it was on sale and i don't have much money, the .uk was because it is very unique in terms of what infront of the dot.. second i try to get as much info as i can get before i do something.. p.s I get it , i will get a com !
It's worth noting that plenty of other TLDs rank on page one of google. Mobile apps and services/other tech things rank well for .io as an example. You really don't need to focus solely on a .com anymore, if your website has quality content and you've structured everything well then you'll do fine.
Think what your first impression is when you see the less prestigious domain like .biz, .us . Myself, I think spam. If you are going to spend a lot of time working on building these sites it is worth the $5 - $10 dollars extra.
