URLs with Slash and without slash

Hey Guys
My website was running with slash previously but after updating the URLs are without slash. For example
It was example.com/ and now its example.com
I have added 301 redirection to it but it is showing too many redirections in search console. Can anyone suggest how to manage it through server, canonical or any other option so that I don.t have to use 301 redirect. Also, will it affect my SEO as a lot of work done on the website.

after the slash is the slug if u are in the home page u only see *******.com but if u are in a page or article or product in your website it will be **********.com/pages
 
301 is the right way to handle it, along with a proper canonical tag pointing to the right version (with or without a slash),
It's pretty normal to have all of the urls reported as being redirected to other pages, google is crawling and informing you of the changes,
You could see some temporary ranking fluctuations due to the change, but nothing to worry about for the long term
 
  • Avoid forcing a 301 redirect if it's causing a loop; check your .htaccess or nginx.conf settings.
  • Ensure internal links, sitemaps, and Google Search Console settings align with your preferred URL structure.
  • If using WordPress, check permalink settings to see if a change caused the issue.
  • SEO impact should be temporary if search engines adjust to the new structure correctly.

    • For Nginx: Use a rewrite rule to ensure URLs remain slash-free.

301 is the way to go, but if you're getting redirect loops, double-check your .htaccess (if you're using Apache) or Nginx configuration. It sounds like there may be conflicting rules in there.
