URLs submitted vs. URLs indexed

Hello,
I submitted a website on Google and I wanted to ask what does this mean:

Why there's so big difference between submitted and indexed? I submitted the site a while ago and the status is the same for a long time now.

Submitted is what you give them indexed is what they think is worth being indexed , usually you never get close to 100%

Not for Google. Building links to those pages, having a good internal linking should help though.

Maybe for you, but Google puts a lot of factors into the formula.
Backlinks, structure, responsiveness etc. Work on all of that to get your page indexed.
