hi bhw, i need some help. im trying to promote my article on goarticle. The url is not search engine friendly so i was thinking i would shorten the url with tinyurl or another kind of url shortener. I was planning to push the goarticle with inlinks from about 50 other article directories. So i wanted to know, can i promote the new tinyurl link and pretty much ignore the original goarticle link? thanks
How can anyone answer this question as no one knows what you are going to use not even you by the sound of this Maybe you wanted to know if tinyurl passed page rank?
I made my own version of this - the website is some-more.info/at/keyword, so if I am talking about chinese recipes I would have http://some-more.info/at/chinese-recipes which goes through my script and then forwarded to the right place. 30 minute script makes it look pretty, and in my opinion my URL rocks, it reads like a sentence near enough!
I think it was clear enough at the end. But yes i would like to know also if tinyurl passed page rank, and you could have answered it just now too.
There has been a bit of testing on TinyURL lately, and everyone came to the conclusion after testing that no it doesn't pass value. It "should" because it's just a 301, so it's more likely a Google imposed filter on the actual TinyURL domain.
Hang on then - so what you are asking me is if I do a short URL type thing using my some-more.info domain, will it still show page rank etc? Sorry - too many beers last night so brain isn't fully online yet
What u can do is, if you have a server (webhosting) with a domain name.. 1. on your FTP make a directory called something like www.yourwebsite.com/keyword_filled_directoryname/ 2. make a .htaccess file in that directory and put the following text in the file: Code: Redirect 302 /keyword_filled_directoryname http://www.youruglyurl.com/12349sadas=idblablablab Then u have a keyword filled link pointing to your ugly link and its a 302 redirect . This link will pass pagerank and everything.
sweetfunny answered my question about tinyurl. thanks sweetfunny. #Im asking you if what youre using is a double meta refresh. #Also im asking if what you are currently using passes page rank.
thanks nossie, this is a good option. But im concerned that my domain will become too valuable. which means i better not screw around with it since its handling my redirects. thanks for answering.
