URL Shortners and backlinks

Probably a dumb question. If you use an url shortner like goo.gl does the backlink still count like a normal backlink and carry the PR juice across etc?

It depends on the service. Some use 301s (like bit.ly or lts.me) and others use 302s. You want the 301s.
