When I built my money site (service business with multiple landing pages) I screwed up one simple thing. I forgot to go back and add the last part of the city name to the URL of one of the landing pages before I published it. I didn't notice it was missing until about a month ago and I have done EXTENSIVE linking so far to rank these pages. This particular page is one of my more competitive pages so I am really afraid of fixing the name on the URL and doing a 301 to keep the links coming in.

I am open to any suggestions, i am not sure if I am the first person to make this mistake.

Just do a 301 and ping your previously created backlinks.

Yep, 301 is the way to go.
