Greetings,
I hope I am not using wrong terminology, but you are probably familiar with the behaviour of certain browsers that will autosuggest a domain ending when entering a keyword, without taking you to the search engine results.
For example when you enter amazon you'll be directed automatically to amazon.com.
Has anyone a deeper understanding on how that actually works? Is it just like the 'feel lucky' search of old, that you have to rank #1 for a certain keyword or how do they determine when to to autocomplete the url and when directing you to the search engine?

Directly concerning typodomains like for example amazon-ca.com or similar.

Thanks
