Ok, so let's say you have some personal documents that you put into your ipod as files, just by draging and dropping into the folder. You were on a Mac.

You gave teh iPod away to a friend who has a PC. Will they be able to see the documents, or will they have to re-format the iPod for the PC, deleting the files at the same time?

Im sweating it :S

Unfortunately they will be able to see the documents. When they connect it to their PC, it only changes the name or ownership to their specific PC. Unless they chose to format the iPod, the files will still be there. Depending on the format of the documents, they still might not be able to open them. Mac and PC files are not compatible but there are free programs they can download to take care of that.

I'm guessing you left some important documents on it? Hopefully nothing illegal. lol

Tell your friend straight up that you left some personal shiznit on that ipod and you would appreciate the opportunity to retrieve it. I am guessing that it must be a pretty close friend if you are giving him/her relatively pricey electronic devices. If s/he has any moral compass at all, they should let you at least get your files off of the equiptment.

If this is a sensitive situation, and the friend is likely to become suspicious, I am sure you can concoct a believable BS story to convince them to let you borrow it back for a day or two.

It was actually a few of my credit card invoices ;O in there. I spoke to her already.... so it's all good I guess. Thanks :)
