Dear BHW Members,

I hope you all doing very well.Bascially we have website call partworntyreslerictes.co.uk and this website coming on first page with lot of keywords in Leicester city UK.

later We start hating the domain name and decided to transfer the website to new domain name.i made a copy of the partworntyreslerictes.co.uk website and upload on new domain savingontyres.co.uk

My question and issues start from here.In new website we decided to make more branches not in just Leicester city.We made so many branches in UK with different city name.As our previous website is targeting only Leicester area so we want all the link juice of main page from previous website to be shifted on savingontyres.co.uk/Leicester.

So what i have done is basically i have done 301 redirections of partworntyreslerictes.co.uk main page to savingontyres.co.uk/Leicester but the rest of pages and products is redirect on root domain like

partworntyresleicester.co.uk/a and partworntyresleicester.co.uk/b is redirect to
savingontyres.co.uk/a and savingontyres.co.uk/b

only the main page of previous website is go into subpage of new website.

so my question is does it really have impact on SEO as if i go to google webmaster tool and asked google to change partworntyresleicester.co.uk to savingontyres.co.uk/Leicester it gives me error because the destination domain is not root domain.

i dont really want to lose my website ranking in leicester city all i want in search engine that in leicester area change my domain name from partworntyresleicester.co.uk to savingontyres.co.uk/Leicester .

Please let me know your thoughts and i will really appreciate your suggestions.

Here are my thoughts, I would have left everything as it was, does the name really matter that much that you are prepared to mess your rankings up? If it meant that much, I would have kept the site and started another one.

So you took a successful site and scrapped it? What the hell man...

You should've asked/opened a thread first before doing it. 301 doesn't redirected google rankings, only the power (Don't want to elaborate each and not) the domain name has gotten.

i dont really want to lose my website ranking in leicester city - Sorry mate, you may already have. For me, sometimes there are luck in just getting ranked even though it isn't SEO'ed well (Just got a good affect/aftermath of a Google Algorithm Update). You may just need to re-SEO the new site and wait for your new site to rank.

partworntyresleicester.co.uk to savingontyres.co.uk/Leicester it gives me error because the destination domain is not root domain. - I think you should just "Add site" (Your new site) to GWT and JUST DO the 301s from your Hosting cPanel.

If "server not found" on your website but i don't think it's that fast for G to https://www.google.co.uk/?gws_rd=ssl#q=site:partworntyresleicester.co.uk your website - "IF" this is the case then i think you should not 301 it as de-indexed can be considered penalized by Google, by tampering without asking for suggestion/thoughts first since what you had planned on doing isn't solid on your know-how, we don't know how Google might look or treat your site either be penalized or not and it's effect to be bestow upon your site.

But all of those mate are just my two cent

Cheers :D

I concur with soothsayer

I would've left that site as is. built the new one and on the home page in the body linked to the new one. also make links in the side bar for the locations and linked those to you newdomain(.)com/Locations_city or each location or in the body<< prolly best. So make links to all the locations and the root on the home page body is best.

Sorry been along day really tired.

HTH
