You lied about your location. I make excellent money there, and it's people like you ruining the place. It's always the same people from the same location stealing portfolio pieces and lying in their profiles.
I'm glad they get rid of people like you. You're the kind that scares away the good clients.

Nope. I go up against these jokers all the time, and I win against them. They are basically ruining their own reputation since I hear all the time from clients that they won't hire from certain countries. But when clients have to deal with these morons, it scares them off the site. I make very good money at Upwork, so I'd rather them get rid of the people like the OP that trash up the site like it's fiver.

I used to spend over 10k a year on Upwork and Freelancer. I stopped because of bums like OP. They show you a decent portfolio, samples of work done in the past, you hire them and end up with crappy work and wasted time/money. Glad they are finally doing something about it.
They have been actively killing off shitty providers like the OP for the last few months. They recently did a round of killing off profiles of people who obviously don't have good English but took their English test in 2 minutes with perfect scores. lol
As someone who makes most of my living from the place, I'm glad they aren't letting it turn into fiverr. They've been actively killing off the losers.

Agree with this 100%! I outsource a fair bit on upwork and there are so many people on there saying they are from North America/UK when they obviously arnt. Once I find someone who does good work I favourite them and offer them first refusal on new jobs to reduce the risk of my time being wasted on new jobs.
In all honesty I don't care if they are from North America or the UK provided the quality is there but I have reported a fair few profiles for bad work when their test scores are good. I presume they pay someone to do their English speaking tests or buy one with a high test score to get jobs.
Another good thing about upwork is I have seen profiles I report deleted by them, I cant confirm if it is from me alone reporting them or if other people also reported them but I am happy they are doing something to keep it as a good service.
OP as I havent worked with you directly I don't know they quality of the work you provide but at the end of the day you got what was coming to you for lying on your account.
They are trying to make it much more high-end than the shitty fiverrs and freelancer.com out there. It's in my best interest that they do too. There are some very high end clients on there and people like the OP just need to be filtered out to keep it that way. I'm in their Pro group too, so I can see who hires from Upwork. I think people might actually be surprised that big brands hire from them. Even Google hires there (well, they hired on Elance and got transferred to Upwork).

I don't think Upwork itself sucks. I think that some of the freelancers and clients made it suck by underbidding etc.
Which made Upwork a place for low cost and poor quality - That's a monopoly for you. But i'm going to stay on it as it does has loads of clients and Im toprated but I found loads of new freelance sites that I think came from the anger of upwork. Loads contacting me on Social media etc. But has anyone checked out weworkwhen
When Upwork announced their 20% increase, their mentions (that website I just said) on twitter blew up.
